Are you a disabled or older person living in Thurrock? Or do you care for someone who is? 

Thurrock Coalition is the User-Led Organisation for Thurrock

Thurrock Coalition has been set up to ensure that:
Residents get all the information they may require to get the support and care that they or their families /relatives need. We link to a whole range of groups and individuals in the borough.

 We know about the rights and entitlements of residents of Thurrock. We provide advice and information on a range of issues affecting disabled and older people.

One of our main aims is to consult and engage with residents of Thurrock to help shape and influence Thurrock Council policies and strategies around Adult Social Care.

Our service is available 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday at The Beehive, Grays, Essex, RM17 6XP. Telephone: 01375 389864.

Our Staff

.Thurrock Coalition currently employs a full time member of staff, Ian Evans as Programme Co-ordinator. Ian is also a Director on the Board.

 

Ian has an extensive professional background and practical experience in human rights law, disability rights, equality and advocacy; as well as knowledge of the legal framework as it relates to disabled people (including equality, discrimination, adult social care and welfare benefits). He has practical experience of case preparation and representation of cases before various Tribunals.

Ian also has experience in delivering seminars and focus groups relating to Social Model Theory of disability, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (as amended) the Equality Act 2010, discrimination, reasonable adjustments and welfare benefits. 

We are "User-Led"

Thurrock Coalition is User-Led which means there is always at least 75% representation at Board level of people who identify as having some type of impairment - be it physical/sensory/mental health/learning difference.

Thurrock Coalition consists of 4 organisations:
Thurrock Centre For Independent Living (TCIL)
Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (a Community Interest Company - CIC)
Thurrock Diversity Network (a Community Benefit Society)
Thurrock Mind (an independent organisation, affiliated to National Mind)

The Full Board of Directors of Thurrock Coalition consists of 3 designated individual Directors from each constituent organisation of Thurrock Coalition.

The Board are supported by an Executive Committee of Directors and the day-to-day work of the Coalition is overseen by the Programme Co-ordinator.
